  1. Hello doctor, I am vegetarian and I bought omega-3 capsules made from algae oil, chia, and vitamin E. The problem is that the capsules are made of gelatin, and vegan capsules don’t reach Argentina. Can I open the capsule and take the content, or is it not safe?

  2. The body is very complex and requires many components, minerals, vitamins, proteins, we must be hydrated with the right electrolyte balance. We need to exercise to keep the blood moving so it can reach every area of the body so it can heal properly.
    Not easy.

  3. Hi doctor i hope you answer this i would really appreciate it reallyyy. I went to 100 of doctors for my eye because i have 1 eye smaller than the other and i wasnt born like this i used to have bigger eyes equally but as my age passed by i noticed it. My left eye is smaller than the right eye. My right eye is bigger and healthier than the left one. My left eye is always red, always small its been like this for years and im tired of this. I went to the doctors and they told me i have dry eyes and bunch of non sense. They gave me eye drops medicines and they told me its normal for your eye to get smaller but when u put the eye drops ur eye will be back to normal and bigger. And my eye is still the same it wont be white anymore, it wont get bigger. What should i do? Im really insecure about this its really noticeable 😕 Non of the eye drops are useful for my left eye and it wont get bigger its been years now 😕 please answer me i really need ur answer doc.

  21. Please Advice me.
I had started intermittent fasting and was eating twice a week but I was drinking a lot water. In first two weeks it didn’t bother me at all but I got buried in work and stopped drinking enough water. Eventually because of AC’s cool air my eyes started closing and because it was summer and lack of food, I ended up having dry eyes.
I have started eating food properly right away with Omega – 3 and Cod liver oil capsules, After 3 months I still feel dryness in my eyes.
I had burning and dryness in eyelids in the beginning but I used honey on eyelids and both dryness and burning was totally gone but I still feel gritty feeling in my eyes because of dry eyes, fan air makes my eyes dry and can’t work in AC much. I have seen doctors but they tell me my eyes are fine, I have been using Artificial tears, warm compressors but they have not help much.
Can you tell me if my dry eyes condition can be reversed or not?
I am really worried and depressed and strongly regretting my action so your reply will really help me.

  27. I wish that I was half as smart as this guy. I guess that’s why he’s a doctor and I’m not.

  28. An eye doctor conducted a self-study to evaluate the effects of a vegan, algae-based omega-3 supplement on dry eye symptoms and omega-3 blood levels over a three-month period. This was compared to a previous self-study using fish oil-based omega-3 supplements.

    Study Design:

Baseline Measurements: After a six-month washout period without any omega-3 supplementation, the doctor recorded an omega-3 index of 5.28%, below the recommended 8–12%. Dry eye assessments included tear film osmolarity, MMP-9 inflammatory marker testing, tear film breakup time, and lipid layer thickness.

Supplementation: The doctor consumed a vegan, algae-based omega-3 oil from PRN, taking two servings daily to match the omega-3 dosage of the previous fish oil study.

    Findings:

Omega-3 Blood Levels: After three months, the omega-3 index increased to 7.52%, which was an improvement but still below the previous year’s 9.54% achieved with fish oil supplements.

Dry Eye Symptoms: There was a slight improvement in dry eye symptoms, as indicated by the SPEED questionnaire scores. However, clinical biomarkers such as tear film osmolarity, MMP-9 levels, and tear breakup time remained largely unchanged. Notably, tear film lipid layer thickness appeared to worsen, though baseline measurements had inconsistencies.

    Conclusions:

The study suggests that while vegan algae-based omega-3 supplements can increase omega-3 blood levels and may offer some relief for dry eye symptoms, they might be less effective than fish oil-based supplements in certain individuals. Factors such as bioavailability differences, supplement composition (varying ratios of DHA to EPA), and individual variability (genetics, gut microbiome, diet) could influence these outcomes.

    Fact-Checking and Additional Insights:

Bioavailability: Research indicates that the bioavailability of omega-3s from algal oil, especially in the form of DHA, is comparable to that from fish oil.
    FITANDWELL.COM

Dry Eye and Omega-3s: A 2019 Cochrane review summarized 34 randomized controlled trials and concluded that signs of dry eye disease improved with oral supplementation of omega-3s. Symptoms improved when omega-3s were combined with other dry eye treatments, such as lubricants and warm compresses.
    INSIGHTNEWS.COM.AU

Supplement Composition: Algae-based omega-3 supplements often have higher concentrations of DHA compared to EPA, whereas many fish oil supplements provide a higher ratio of EPA to DHA. This compositional difference may affect individual responses to supplementation.
    MRPLANTBASED.COM

In summary, while algae-based omega-3 supplements are a viable and sustainable alternative, individual responses may vary. Monitoring omega-3 levels through blood tests and consulting with healthcare providers is advisable to ensure optimal outcomes.

  29. Hello,
Thank you for all you do.

  30. Fish do not naturally produce omega-3; they acquire it through their diet, primarily by consuming algae. Vegan omega-3 is considered safer because algae are cultivated in controlled environments outside the ocean and tested for heavy metal contamination. There are many vegan omega-3 supplements with high EPA and DHA content.

I’m sharing this for informational purposes. ❤

  31. I have had eye problems since I was little. almost All the doctors said I can’t be healed and the last diagnosis was Acute and subacute iridocyclitis, my eye layer is already thin. my eyesight is very bad and both eyes hurt and can’t see light. it hurts so much. please what should i do. thnk

  32. It looks like the algal oil was mixed with olive oil as a second ingredient so could it also be the bioavailability went down from competing with omega-6s? I’ve heard before in the past (but I haven’t read much on the literature to confirm) that omega-3s compete with omega-6s for absorption. P.S. I came to this video because I am a vegan (10 years) and have recently started supplementing an algal oil. I’m using the brand "Vega".
